NCO Financial Systems - NCO may be a "Zombie Debt Collector"
Over a period of several years, I received phone calls & letter from NCO financial Systems Inc. for $100 (the unpaid balance from an old DirecTv bill).
When applying for a car loan, they told me if I resolved this debt, my credit would be approved. I paid them the $100. I received a notice 2 months later saying the debt had been resolved. This paperwork was enough to get my loan approved.
Now, two & a half years later, I see that it has been removed from credit report because the 7 years time limit had expired. They never removed it from my credit report leading me to believe this is a "Zombie Debt Collector". A zombie debt collector are agencies that buy old debts (thousands at a time) & collect on them for pure profit. They have no bearing whatsoever on your credit report.
I did this research after recently agreeing to pay a company called Dynamic Debt Solutions over $1500. Right after the agreement, I started researching the internet. In addition to all the complaints about the company being a scam, I also found several lawyers specifically naming Dynamic Debt Solutions & promising at least a thousand dollars for their violations of The Fair Debt Collections Act. I called them back, described all of their violations, that I rescinded my agreement, would contact a lawyer, & my states Attorney General (which I did).
I told them to cease & desist all communications. I put a stop to keep them from drawing from my bank account (Boy do I feel dumb about giving out that information). They never tried to draw from my account & I never heard from them again. My attorney General also contacted them to make sure that they would cease & desist.
Before making any agreements with ANY collection agency, DO YOUR RESEARCH! Insist they send you a certified letter of debt owed & never make any agreements over the phone. Now years later, I think NCO scammed me.
I am thankful that I was only out $100. All of this could have been much worse.
